ABSTRACT
Climate Change: Implications for National Security and Strategy [presentation] [open pdf - 693KB]
This slide presentation includes information on climate change and how it affects national security and strategy. Some of the climate change trends highlighted include: "[1] Global temperature is projected to rise 2-11.5ºF by 2100 (IPCC) [2] Higher emission scenarios predict a sea level rise of between 3-4 feet by 2100 [3] Local changes in sea level will also depend on changes in currents, proximity to melting ice sheets, and vertical land movement [4] Impacts associated with these changes include: possible intensification of tropical cyclones; increased frequency of floods; increasingly severe droughts; and wildfires[.]"
