DHS Announces $30 Million in Competitive Grants to Strengthen Preparedness Training [September 30, 2005] [open pdf - 9KB]
In this press release, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announces $30 million in Competitive Training Grants. DHS awarded funding to fifteen organizations for training initiatives that further the Department's all hazards mission of preparing the nation to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from incidents of terrorism and natural disasters. The training programs developed from the grants will strengthen preparedness training for first responders, public officials and citizens. The new training programs will enhance preparedness in a variety of areas, including intelligence assessments, citizen readiness, transit and port security and mass casualty care. A list of FY 2005 recipients in included.
