Exposure of Manufactured Housing to Wind in Hurricane Charley   [open pdf - 743KB]

This map provided by HAZUS-MH (Hazards U.S. - Multi Hazard), illustrates how manufactured housing in four SW Florida counties: Sarasota, Charlotte, Desoto, and Lee, were effected by the wind in Hurricane Charley. It also describes how HAZUS-MH can be used in pre-disaster preparation: Identification of manufactured housing (pre-1994) that is most vulnerable to wind, and estimation of the number of households that occupy manufactured housing, including low-income and elderly. In a post-disaster situation, it can be used to identify manufactured housing sites that have experienced peak gust winds in excess of 110 mph. It can also be used for application of estimates for damage assessment planning and search and rescue (SAR), and identification of manufactured housing sites that have a high probability of experiencing at least moderate damage.
