The second public hearing of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States was held on May 22-23, 2003 in Washington, DC. The Commission heard testimony on Congressional oversight as well as the state of the aviation security before and after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This testimony was part of a panel entitled "Intelligence Oversight and the Joint Inquiry". In this statement before the Commission, Senator Shelby discusses "what our nation did to prepare itself prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks - and how our nation can be better prepared for such threats in the future."
