Status of Key Recommendations GAO Has Made to DHS and Its Legacy Agencies   [open pdf - 795KB]

This correspondence sets forth a look at new prospective security measures to be implemented in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Key recommendations made between the two agencies have pointed to improved management and scope as a means of helping to improve the long term defense of the homeland and border areas. This report is one in a series of GAO efforts to assess and baseline the progress and effectiveness of federal agency efforts to improve homeland security mission performance.
