Defense Science Board Study on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Uninhabited Combat Aerial Vehicles [open pdf - 837KB]
Lessons learned from recent combat missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq have shown that UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) can provide improved acquisition and more rapid dissemination of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaisance data. In each of these noted campaigns, the collection of such data is considered paramount, and all means of prospective intelligence mining are explored. The benefits and promise of UAV's have not gone unnoticed by members of the Department of Defense and Congress, and stand as a lasting example of the ways that this technology has come of age.
