ABSTRACT
Advocating Shared Responsibilities for Improved Fire Protection: Beyond Solutions 2000 [open pdf - 633KB]
In April of 2001, the North American Coalition for Fire and Life Safety Education conducted a symposium to address the recommended solutions from the "Solutions 2000" symposium held in Washington, DC, in April 1999. There, we examined the current status of fire safety and made recommendations for improvements in the areas of early warning and detection, fixed fire suppression, and safe means of egress for those who cannot take life saving action, in a timely manner, in the event of a fire. Specifically, the audiences addressed were young children (under five), older adults (over sixty-five), and people with disabilities.
