State Approaches to the Strategic Planning Process   [open pdf - 44KB]

The subject of this bulletin is "Funding allocations for Fiscal Year 2000 Office of State and Local Domestic Preparedness Support (OSLDPS) Grants." "During the recent Midwestern Regional Terrorism Policy Forum in Des Moines, Iowa, many of you expressed an interest in knowing how other states are approaching the assessment and strategic planning process. Based on your input, the Office for State and Local Domestic Preparedness Support (OSLDPS) has prepared a state-by-state analysis focusing on: 1) each state's primary organizational approach to the planning process; 2) each state's method for identifying first responder jurisdictions for the assessments; and, 3) the date by which each state estimates that it will complete and submit its assessment data and strategic plan to OSLDPS. A copy of this analysis is attached. This data is being provided in the hopes that states will be able to learn from each other's efforts and leverage the knowledge gained in their own planning efforts. In that spirit, contact information is also being provided for each state administrative agency (SAA)."
