ABSTRACT

Rationale and Development of the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scales   [open pdf - 220KB]

From the article: "Several structured interviews are now available for assessing and diagnosing PTSD (for a review see Blake et al., in press). These interviews provide a critical element of the multi-component assessment of PTSD (Lyons et al., 1989; Wolfe et al., 1987). Among the available interviews are the Clinician Administered PTSD Scales (CAPS-1 and CAPS-2; Blake et al., 1990; Nagy et al., 1991), which were developed at the National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD) to accommodate both research and clinical needs. This report describes the rationale behind and the development of the CAPS interviews."
